My tip would be to hoe regularly. But every year I fail to do this often enough!

Weeding can be really satisying - I know what you mean, especially ones that you can pull out easily. I get really bored with hoeing though and have a tendancy to chop off bits of plants that I want to keep.
Bind weed is a real problem for lots of gardeners - I had a running battle with it after I went away travelling for a year and my freinds who were renting the house just let the garden run riot. Luckily I was going to redesign from scratch so was digging up the whole plot, but I was amazed at how deep and far the bind weed ran underground.
The only way to really keep on top of it is to keep on removing as much of the root as possible - and don't leave even the tiniest bit in the soil. Glyphosate weed killer is another way of weakening it - you could try putting bamboo canes in the garden where the bind weed is bad and let it grow up the cane, then spray directly on to the leaves, this way you reduce the risk of accidently spraying other plants. If you do splash other plants remove the sprayed leaves immediately so the weedkiller can't pass back down the stem.
Hope this helps

We Like the idea with using bamboo canes to attrack the bind weed b......r! But we find on the allotment that so many weeds are edible that simply cutting them to eat, nettles, young dandelions etc that they simply decide that our plot isn't worth the bother and go somewhere else, so that we often have to beg or borrow neighbours weeds for the pot...provided they haven't sprayed them!

Get weeds before they set seed, it is easier said than done but will save hours of weeding in the future.
Bindweed is possible to get rid of with perseverance, start by digging as much root out as you can, then every time it shows itself, nip the new shoots off, the roots are fed by the leaves, if you don’t let it produce leaves it will eventually starve to death. I have successfully eradicated it from my garden.

In Response to Re: Weed problems:
identifying weeds is ever so easy .--- if its hard to pull up -its a weed . if its easy to pull up its a flower or a veg .!!!

I've heard that advice before and it worries me because a lot of weeds are annuals they're usually easy to pull out - it's your plants that have been in the ground a couple of years or more that will be difficult to pull.
Weeds like dandilions have tap roots so are more difficult to get out, as are brambles and the like, but otherwise you should just be able to pull up handfuls of other weeds.
My advice would be if it's coming with a fight, it might well mean that it's meant to be there - don't go round pulling up all you emerging perennials....

In Response to Re: Weed problems:
I have so many dandilions growing in the lawn, I try to dig them out but for everyone I get rid off it seems like two more appear. As I have a cat I can't use weedkillers.

Have a read on the back of the weedkiller packets, there are many which are safe for pets once it is dry. If you spray your grass on a warm day it can dry in an hour, would it be possible to keep your cat inside for an hour?
