Question: Latest time for moving shrubs / planting trees?
Hello all,
This winter I redesigned my south-west facing garden to include space for a row of four pleached small-leaved lime trees (Tilia Cordata).
Getting them in the ground will be the last step in my garden design and I'm really excited. It means I can get going with planting around their bases.
Does anyone know the latest adviseable time for getting trees into the ground, and for moving the shrubs around that are currently in the way? I understand this all has to be done before spring kicks off. Is this true?

I think generally, the advice is to move everything and get bare rooted shrubs, hedging and trees in by the end of March. In the south east especially as things start to warm up.
I was looking at my garden at the weekend and I need to move some shrubs - really should have done it befopre Christmas really because no I have all my bulbs appearing and I'm going to flatten them if I attempt it now.
Time just seems to run away, and gardens won't wait!

By the way, I'm SO jealous of your pleached limes. I'd love to have them in my garden but there's just not the space. Mind you I am contemplating a re-design, so might be able to squeeze them in. Watch this space!
